lib2to3 is approaching deprecation: https://bugs.python.org/issue40360

I'm thinking about augmenting stdlib ast module to have some lib2to3 features. If this is of interest to you:

This issue was opened long back. Any updates on this? Are there any plans to support 3.8?

If not, are there any good alternatives for this package?

As an alternative, the following libraries can be considered:

1. Ast from a standard Python library
2. Parso
3. Libcst
