Breaking changes

Maven 3.8.* version will be removed and 3.9.* will be added from January 10,2025

Target date

Image deployment will start on January 13,2025 and will take 2-3 days

The motivation for the changes

Updating the maven version to the latest i.e, 3.9.9. Customers will be able to use the latest version.

Possible impact

If your projects depend on maven 3.8.* they might be broken.

Update Maven version to 3.9.9 in Ubuntu toolsets.

* Change `maven` version to `3.9.9` in `images/ubuntu/toolsets/toolset-2004.json`.
* Change `maven` version to `3.9.9` in `images/ubuntu/toolsets/toolset-2204.json`.
* Change `maven` version to `3.9.9` in `images/ubuntu/toolsets/toolset-2404.json`.

Hi , The windows images has been rolled out with 20250113.1 , and soon the Ubuntu images will be rolled out.thanks

Hi @vidyasagarnimmagaddi, thanks for your effort on this change!

I was wondering - could we use warning annotations to flag upcoming breaking changes? It looks like we already do this for major updates, such as retagging ubuntu-latest to 24.04, but not for other changes that can unexpectedly break pipelines without any prior notice..
