Description

Today is Friday, Jan 24, 2025 and running a workflow specifying ubuntu-latest in fact selects Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS

Current runner version: '2.321.0'
Operating System
  Ubuntu
  24.04.1
  LTS

It also outputs an annotation warning with the text:

ubuntu-latest pipelines will use ubuntu-24.04 soon. For more details, see https://github.com/actions/runner-images/issues/10636

#10636 says:

Rollout will begin on December 5th and will complete on January 17th, 2025.

which is inconsistent with today's date Jan 24, 2025.

• If the rollout is complete, then the message should no longer appear
• If the rollout is still ongoing, then the date in Ubuntu-latest workflows will use Ubuntu-24.04 image #10636 needs to be updated
• Considering that the closed issue Ubuntu-latest workflows will use Ubuntu-24.04 image #10636 is getting overwhelmed with links and comments, it should probably be locked. It is currently unreadable, apart from the last posts, some of which are spam.
