Not sure where to put this, but given the mature state this magic integration is currently in, I figured some reflection is required.
We've seen addition of several devices, like the Apple HomePod, and Google Hub players. I own both of them, so welcomed those data models.
And yet, they are completely unreliable.
Currently, I am streaming my Spotify music to the HomePod, and it shows
nonetheless.
Same would go for the Google Hub. We have not specific sensors, other than the media player. When the display is off, the device uses no more than 1.7 watts, and yet the data model checks only the media_player and has no clue about the actual power consumption. in the long run this will affect the grander picture.
I am aware these are mere estimates, and need to be seen as that. It does make me wonder if we should actually be adding these types of devices like this, where we are really not seeing very accurate sensors at all.
these are only 2 types of devices I now have checked, and imagine there are many more.
BottomLine: should Powerful offer these false power sensors, or leave those to the enduser. Shouldn't Powercalc refrain from those, and keept to actual power readings that can be identified with above 99% certainty....
