Systematic Literature Review Mastery: From Theory to Practice

Course Overview

The Systematic Literature Review course is designed to provide participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in conducting systematic literature reviews. Participants will learn about the preferred reporting guidelines, tools, and techniques essential for conducting rigorous and transparent systematic reviews. This course aims to equip participants with the necessary skills to critically analyze research literature, synthesize evidence, and produce high-quality systematic review reports.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Master the Foundations and Significance of Systematic Literature Reviews: Gain a deep understanding of the principles underpinning systematic literature reviews and recognize their critical role in academic research and evidence-based decision-making.

  2. Navigate and Implement PRISMA Guidelines: Acquire proficiency in utilizing the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, fostering the ability to conduct comprehensive and transparent systematic reviews.

  3. Optimize Systematic Review Practices with Advanced Tools and Critical Appraisal: Explore and apply advanced tools, AI-powered technologies, and critical appraisal techniques to conduct effective and high-quality systematic reviews, ensuring the synthesis of diverse research to produce insightful conclusions and recommendations.

The course consists of the following modules:

  • Differentiating systematic reviews from other review types.
  • Overview of the systematic review process.

2. PRISMA Guidelines

  • Introduction to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines.
  • Understanding the key elements and checklist items of PRISMA.
  • Applying PRISMA guidelines to ensure transparency and quality in systematic reviews.

3. PRISMA Key Documents

  • Exploring essential documents related to PRISMA, including the PRISMA Statement, Explanation and Elaboration document, and PRISMA Flowchart.
  • Understanding the purpose and significance of each document in the systematic review process.

4. Tools for Systematic Review

  • Overview of AI-powered tools for systematic literature reviews.
  • Utilizing Writing Research Paper by Chat GPT for assistance in the writing process.
  • Leveraging Elicit, Galactica, Explain Paper, and SciSpace as tools for literature search, organization, analysis, and visualization in systematic reviews.

5. Critical Appraisal of Research Studies

  • Introduction to critical appraisal techniques for evaluating the quality and validity of research studies.

  • Introduction to VOSViewer for visualizing and analyzing the findings of a literature review.
  • Generating bibliometric visualizations to explore the relationships between research papers and authors.

10. Census Data Visualizations

  • Exploring visualization techniques for census data.
  • Creating informative and engaging visualizations to present census data findings.

Course Delivery
