No Youtube videos appear in subscriptions feed after reload - Only Soundcloud songs and 1 Youtube livestream #357
Comments
Can you try disabling all sources except Youtube and see what happens? |
With all other sources disabled the subscription feed is empty after it
finishes reloading.
As an experiment I subscribed to DUST. Their old livestreams appear in the
subscription feed. Subscribing to new channels that don't livestream
doesn't add any new videos to the feed. It appears this bug only affects
regular videos, not current or previous streams.

Could you also try toggling Live button? Could be that filter is active but UI doesn't show it. |
Toggling the live button hides the one current livestream from DUST.
Previous livestreams remain, and no normal videos appear in the feed.
Turning on "Only Use Channel RSS Feeds (Inferior)" in the YouTube source
settings breaks the feed completely, but that may be a separate issue.

I may have some additional information, unless I am having a different yet similar issue. The feed is properly being fetched, but the unfiltered view removes all non-livestream/VODs. However, if you use a subscriptions group the feed appears to function as it should (I used FreeTube's feed for comparison). Does the same thing occur for you, @TheDeviantCrafter? I'm not sure if this is some issue with the amount of channels as I have around 200 and based on the screenshot @TheDeviantCrafter may have about the same and that is the point when FreeTube will start running into fetching issues without forcing RSS. |
Toggling a subscription group does fix the issue, at least for the channels
that are in a group. It appears we're running into the same bug.
This instance of the bug started randomly about a week after importing my
~440 subscriptions from the Android app. I may have subscribed to a few
channels in that week but the number hasn't changed significantly.

What happened?
When reloading the subscription feed from update, it briefly shows the caches version from 1 day ago. After that all Youtube videos fail to show except 1 live stream (this creator uploads daily).
This happened once before during version 1 or 2 and was only fixed by fully reinstalling the app and syncing with my phone.
Both times this happened the app was open overnight.
Grayjay was initially showing videos from Linus Tech Tips when I first encountered this iteration of the bug. Unsubscribing from that channel did not fix the issue.
After reloading a few times I got a captcha prompt on both desktop and my Android device which are both in the same wifi network. It's possible that I'm being rate limited. The last time this happened the bug persisted for 2-3 days and was immediately fixed by reinstalling Grayjay so this seems unlikely.
While reloading from updating:
After reload:
