Steps to reproduce

  1. Install Nextcloud Notes app from App Store
  2. Launch
  3. Enter the server address or pick any account available in the picker (probably by sharing information through app groups)
  4. Tap to sign in
  5. Go through the web-based sign in flow

Expected behaviour

  1. Visible confirmation of the sign-in
  2. Synchronization of notes

Actual behaviour

No visible change in the user interface as if the sign-in did not happen

Device

  • iPad Pro 11-inch M4
  • iOS 18.1.1

Using a freshly erased iOS Simulator, the app has "http://cloud.nextcloud.com" filled in by default in the server field of the settings tab. When I change that URL to my test server and go through the sign in process, it is reset to its initial value upon completion. Though, the label below then states that Notes 4.11.0 is used with Nextcloud 30.0.2. When I pull to fresh in the note list, I actually see content appearing.

The same behavior here. I fill in the server name, go through the authentication process, the progress can be seen in the server logs, then the server name changes back to cloud.nextcloud, com, the label below states "Using Notes 4.11.0 on Nextcloud 30.0.4, but if I pull to refresh the note list, I get a red window saying "Error syncing notes / The server request timed out", my server does not show any more connect requests from the app in the logs.

I seem to have the same problem, only worse. I see "http://cloud.nextcloud.com" in the server box. I go to the itty bitty cryptic icon in the upper right, and select the proper URL. the app fills that URL in to the server box. Now how do I tell it to proceed? Hitting return does nothing. And the keyboard is over the bottom of the screen, so I can't get out of Settings.

This used to work and all of a sudden I get this.

OK, just to get out of the mess described above, I went to the task manager and killed off nextcloud notes. I then wen into the app, and this time a test note I had made elsewhere. Not exactly a canonical way to solve a problem.
