Here's a picture of what it looks like.

Is it intentional? It's quite distracting.

PS thanks for creating this!

Thanks for reporting!

I tried to reproduce using files from latest release.

Opening the html (were epub and mobi are based on) in browser looks fine.

Opening epub and mobi files using Calibre reader looks fine.

Checking html via https://validator.w3.org found only one stray <div>
Stray end tag div. From line 303, column 1; to line 303, column 6
-> need to look into

Are you using .epub or .mobi format? Could you please retry the other?

Could you please try to find in which earlier release the file was still ok?

PS: For completeness: The ebook build process is: LaTeX sources -> modified by scripts -> html -> modified by scripts -> epub -> mobi
see https://github.com/rrthomas/hpmor/blob/main/scripts/ebook/

I suspect it's the same issue with the Kindle mobile app and dark mode not working quite right. Used latest epub.

Works fine in Lithium

Thanks. Could you please check if an older release works fine? And ideally locate the release that broke it? And please also try the .mobi version of the latest release?

Can't test mobi on the app easily as Amazon has dropped support for it.

1.2.10 seems to be the first affected version for epub

Thanks for checking!
1.2.10 was the migration to Ubuntu 24.04, so a major technical change under the hood.
I now fixed the stray </div>. In 15min there should be an updated file in the WorkInProgress release. May I ask you to check that one?

Hm, slowly I am running out of ideas.

Locally, I now created the epub version using the latest calibre version ebook-convert (calibre 7.24.0), instead of the one shipping with Ubuntu 24.04 and used in the GitHub action. calibre 7.6.

Please try the attached file hpmor.epub.zip
