Love what you're doing here. When I dropped some ink into the barrel it just started pouring out the nib / feed. I was using a number 6 nib / feed from fprevolutionusa:
To be fair I tried replacing the nib with a calligraphy pen nib which might be the issue. Will try again another time soon with the standard fpr #6 nib.

It is not clear from the message how you tried it, If you nib module is not closed from "the other end" yes, it is normal that inks flow through the feeder. If you made complete pen and piston is not leaking air or ink but it is still leaking, then probably you need tighter fit for the nib & feeder (nib module shoud be changed).
