b-hyve water flo

Does anyone know if the water consumption values provided by b-hyve are purely estimates based on presumed flow/minute * # minutes on or do they actually represent flow (even if it's not totally accurate)? I want to be alerted if my hose-end controllers are on but there is no flow because someone turned the spigot off. If flow is actual and not calculated, I can do that. If it's calculated, I'll get the same reported consumption even if valved off. I

I've answered my own question. The flow is real but not very accurate so I can make the alert work taking that into account.
