Is it possible to backport the fix provided in #35 to the v1.x release, so that users still on puma 4.x can benefit from it?

It's a reasonable request, but my time is pretty limited at the moment so I don't think I'll get to it.
Can you use a fork that has v1.2.1 with just that fix backported, and load the gem via a git reference?
