Revert use of js #private as it breaks the integration with unmigrated code #17

Instead of using the new #private syntax, we will use the older _prop syntax for now as a lot of the unmigrated code expects public/protected fields using _.

Later we can go back and sprinkle around protected and private once everything uses typescript
