OpenAI Simple Client

This project is a simple web-based chat interface that allows users to interact with OpenAI's GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 models. It's built using Python and integrates the OpenAI API for generating responses.

Installation

Before you start, make sure you have Python 3.12 or higher installed on your system.

  1. Clone the Repository

    git clone https://github.com/rogerkibbe/openai-simple-client.git
    cd openai-simple-client
  2. Install Dependencies

    • It's recommended to use a virtual environment:
      python -m venv venv
      source venv/bin/activate  # On Windows use `venv\Scripts\activate`
    • Install the required packages:
      pip install -r requirements.txt
  3. Set Up Environment Variables

    • Create a .env file in the root directory.
    • Add your OpenAI API key to the .env file:
      OPENAI_API_KEY=your_api_key_here
      

Usage

This python app uses Panel so, run the application using:

panel serve openai_api_web.py

Open your web browser and navigate to the address provided in the console to interact with the chat interface.
